🎅 On the Eleventh Day of Christmas Road 13 gave to me 🎅... the 2016 Blind Creek Petit Verdot.
This is another Advent wine that's been sold out out for a few months.
The Petit Verdot grapes came from the Blind Creek Vineyard in the Similkameen Valley. The fruit from this vineyard is always dark, concentrated, and powerfully structured, but the tannins are so fine that the wines are soft and silky in the mouth.
The grapes were picked at optimum maturity on October 22nd, 2016, and destemmed gently into small fermentors. Hand plunging took place 1-4 times a day for 10 days. Fermentation temperatures were fairly warm at 33 degrees celcius. The wine was gently pressed and transferred to French oak, 25% of which was new – for 21 months. The wine was pulled from barrels and lightly clarified just prior to bottling in August 2018.
The 2016 Blind Creek Collective Petit Verdot has a gorgeous dark, almost impenetrable blue/purple tint. The nose is lifted with supremely ripe, dense aromas showcasing classic and complex aromas of black currant, black cherry, Iodine, graphite, pencil shavings, violets and lavender. These flavours explode onto the palate where they are amplified by spoonfuls of rich, blackberry jam, cedar and tobacco. The density and concentration of these flavours is something that must be experienced to be believed.
Texturally, the 2016 BCC Petit Verdot has tremendous volume in the mouth, with supremely rich, fine-grained tannins which gives the wine incredible structure, power, depth and length. This tour de force of a wine is built for aging into the long term (2025).

🎅 On the Tenth Day of Christmas Road 13 gave to me 🎅... the 2017 Blind Creek Chardonnay
Our gift to you 🎁: Purchase minimum of 2 bottles of Blind Creek Chardonnay and your order ships FREE within BC & Alberta or for just $20 to other provinces!
The grapes for the 2017 Blind Creek Chardonnay were sourced from Blind Creek Vineyard in the Similkameen Valley. During harvest the ripening grapes were sampled bi-weekly to measure flavour development and sugar content, and they were picked at the optimum point of flavour for the intended style of our Chardonnay, which is rich and round, but with a firm core of bright acidity.
The grapes for this 2017 Chardonnay were picked on September 25th, 2017. They were carefully hand-sorted and gently whole-bunch pressed, before 24 hours of cold settling. Primary fermentation took place in French Oak barrels (20% new) with no malolactic fermentation allowed. The barrels were stirred occasionally to build up body and texture in the wine.
The 2017 Blind Creek Collective Chardonnay is gold in colour and starts off with aromas of lemon zest and lime oil, nashi pear, and golden delicious apples with a kiss of crème caramel. On the palate, these flavours become even more intense, culminating in a symphony of gold and yellow fruit. The texture of the wine is rich, full, and refined, but the roundness is balanced by a piercing, vibrant acidity that offers a long, refreshing finish.

Our gift to you 🎁: Purchase 12 bottles of VRM and get FREE shipping! Club memebers please send us an email to get FREE shipping on 6 bottles of VRM.
VRM 2017 is a blend of Viognier, Roussanne, and Marsanne. This is another one of our wines that comes exclusively from the Blind Creek Vineyard in the Similkameen Valley. The grapes for the 2017 VRM were picked and fermented separately over the month of October. They were carefully hand-sorted and gently whole-bunch pressed, before 24 hours of cold settling. Fermentation took place in a mixture of French Oak barrels (25% new). Wine fractions in barrels were lees-stirred monthly to build richness and texture in the wine.
The 2017 VRM is light gold in colour and has a rich tapestry of aromas to delight the senses. On the nose, there are strongly lifted notes of apricot, white peach, mandarin orange, marzipan, pineapple, banana, quince and golden delicious apple. Those flavours carry onto the expansive, rich, sumptuous palate and great length of flavour.
This is a wine that is complex, full and rich, but with elegance, delicacy, and impeccable balance. It will pair perfectly with seafood and shellfish, and spicy Asian food. We also recommend experimenting with lighter meats such as chicken and pork dishes.

🎅 On the Eighth Day of Christmas Road 13 gave to me 🎅... the 2017 5th Element.
Our gift to you 🎁: FREE shipping! Include at least one bottle of 2017 5th Element in your purchase (6 bottle minimum) and the shipping is on us!
Have you heard where we got the 5th Element name? No it's not the movie 😉. The name comes from the five things that you need to sustain life - earth, air, water, fire, and... wine!
We carefully select each vineyard block for the 5th Element. For the 2017 vintage about 80% of the fruit came from the Similkameen and the other 20% from our vineyards on the Golden Mile Bench. Each block of fruit is carefully hand-sorted and very slowly destemmed without crushing into small open top fermenters for fermentation. During fermentation, the caps were punched down by hand thrice daily for about 10 days and the wine was then pressed off in our wooden basket press to commence the maturation process in a combination of new (25%) and older French oak barrels. Each parcel of fruit was fermented separately and the batches were kept separate throughout the aging process to assess how each wine evolved over time.
This impressive wine opens with powerful notes of black cherry, black currant, roast beef, sage and wild game interwoven with lashings of pepper, tobacco, vanilla and cream. The tremendous aromatic complexity carries onto the palate, which is supremely rich and supple, with abundant, silky tannins. The overall impression is of a wine with impeccable balance, class, and unrivalled complexity.

The 2017 Roussanne grapes were carefully hand-sorted and gently whole-bunch pressed, before 24 hours of cold settling. Fermentation took place in French Oak barrels (30% new oak), and stainless steel barrels, with monthly lees stirring to build richness and texture in the wine.
The 2017 Roussanne is medium-gold in colour and has a delicate and complex aromatic profile consisting of honey, sage, orange peel, pineapple and apricot along with subtle notes of vanilla and white pepper. These flavours continue on to the palate where they are seamlessly woven into a rich, round, opulent structure that carries the flavours to all corners of your mouth. This is a very interesting white wine that can be enjoyed now, or cellared for up to 7 years to see how the flavours develop over time.
This wine will pair well with a wide selection of seafood (fish and shellfish) in addition to chicken and pork dishes with creamy or spicy sauces, and a diverse group of cheeses, both soft and hard.

On the Sixth Day of Christmas Road 13 gave to me...
🎅 On the Sixth Day of Christmas Road 13 gave to me 🎅... the 2017 Syrah.
An elusive member of our portfolio. The last couple of years our Syrah has been a Wine Club exclusive and will be for the coming vintages as well.
The grapes for this Syrah come almost exclusively from the Blind Creek Vineyard in the Similkameen which is know for producing fruit with intense flavours and aromas.
The 2017 Syrah were all carefully sorted, and destemmed (without crushing) into small open top vessels for small lot fermentations. When possible, Viognier was co-fermented along with syrah. The caps were punched down by hand 3 times daily for about 8-10 days and the wine was then pressed off in our wooden basket press to commence the maturation process. The final blend was assembled, clarified, and bottled in May 2019, with a pinch of Merlot and Viognier being added for texture and additional aromatic complexity.
The 2017 Syrah is very dark in colour with purple tints, this wine opens with aromas of blueberry, black cherry, plum, and hints of black pepper and a subtle ‘amimale’ wild game complexity. These aromas continue onto the palate and are joined by concentrated black berry and cherry flavours, notes of vanilla, dark chocolate and white flowers, in a full, expansive palate with incredible length of flavour and delicacy.
Our gift to you 🎁: We've opened this up to purchase for 24 hours... no restrictions or limits!
On the Fifth Day of Christmas Road 13 gave to me...
🎄 On the Fifth Day of Christmas Road 13 gave to me 🎄... the 2017 Marsanne.
We are pretty proud of this wine. It won a Platinum Medal at the 2019 National Wine Awards of Canada (only the top 1% of wines recieve a Platinum Medal).
The 2017 vintage was a bit of a rollercoaster - cool spring, higher than average rainfall, one of the warmest and driest summers in 40 years, and then the forest fires happened and the smoke arrived. The result... high flavour intensity, moderate sugars, and fresh, crisp levels of acidity.
We picked the Marsanne at the end of September exclusively from the Blind Creek Vineyard in the Similkameen Valley. They were then hand-sorted and gently wholed-bunch pressed, before 24 hours of cold-settling. Fermentation occured in French Oak Barrels (33.3% new) and the wine remained in those barrels with monthly stirring to build richness and texture. A dash of Roussanne and a pinch of Viognier were added to compliment the aromatics, texture, and complexitiy of the Marsanne.
The 2017 Marsanne is pale gold in colour and has an exotically complex nose made up of Asian pear, white peach, quince, apricot, and mandarin orange peel, in addition to notes of honeysuckle and white flowers. These aromas carry nicely onto the rich palate where they are joined by notes of golden delicious apple vanilla bean and spices, in addition to marmalade, marzipan and honey. The flavours are complimentary to the wonderful round texture in this wine, which is held in check by a nice vibrant acid backbone and a briny minerality reminiscent of crushed seashells.
Pair the Marsanne with just about rich, but light dishes that you enjoy - pasta, risotto or butternut squash based dishes. Curries and sushi will also compliment this wine (don't go too spicy though!)
The Marsanne 2017 is sold and our next release (June 2020) will be Club Exclusive due to limited production. Sign-up for the club to add the Marsanne to your cellar.
On the Fourth Day of Christmas Road 13 Gave to me...
🎄 On the Fourth Day of Christmas Road 13 gave to me 🎄... the 2017 GSM.
What exactly is the GSM? It's a blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre. This type of blend is typical of the southern part of the Rhone Valley in France, but you more and more are popping up in BC.
This 2017 GSM is a blend of 2 valleys - the Okanagan and the Similkameen. We sorted and destemmed all the grapes before they went into open top fermenters. The Grenache and Mourvedre were co-fermented with Syrah skins (from an earlier fermentation). This adds complexity, colour, and tannin to the lighter Grenache and Mourvedre. The caps were bunched down 3 times a day for about 10 days before the wine was pressed off in wooden basket press and going into mostly older French Oak barrels. Syrah was added at blending in May 2019.
This impressive wine opens with lifted aromas of pomegranate, red cherry, wild game, white pepper and cured charcuterie meats. The palate is big and silky, with nicely polished tannins, sweet red fruit, dark plum, and pretty notes of violets, white pepper, citrus rind, and vanilla bean.
Pair the wine with prosciutto and other cured meats, mild cheeses, lamb, veal, and venison.
Our gift to you 🎁: Purchase 12 bottles of GSM and recieve to complimentary Road 13 Syrah glasses (Riedel). No need for a code. We will add these to your order when we ship.
On the Third Day of Christmas Road 13 gave to me...
🎄 On the Third Day of Christmas Road 13 gave to me... 🎄 the 2018 Riesling
It has been few years since we've had Riesling as part of wine line-up and we were excited to bring it back. The grapes are grown in our vineyards on the Golden Mile Bench, but come from 2 seperate blocks - The Terraces and the Gully. Each block is brings unique characteristics to this wine. The Terraces was picked on September 19 and the Gully on October 1.
The golden yellow Riesling grapes were whole bunch pressed before 24 hours of cold settling. Fermentation occured in stainless steel tanks to ensure the wine maintained its bright and fruit forward style. During fermentation it was tasted regularly and fermentation was stopped when the sugar/acidity balance was optimal.
The 2018 Riesling is a model of fresh, pure fruit. Beautiful floral tones of jasmine, lime zest, nectarine and granny smith apples beckon you into taking your first sip. On the palate, these flavours are amplified in an amazing mouthfeel that is luscious, sweet, and round, but with is balanced with bright acidity.
We recommend pairing this amazing Riesling with spicy Asian food of all persuasions, milder cheeses, and lighter meats like duck, pork, chicken and seafood.
Our gift to you 🎁: Purchase 12 bottles of the 2018 Riesling and get the 13th bottle FREE! We will add the 13th bottle when shipping your order 🎅

🎄On the second day of Christmas Road 13 gave to me 🎄... Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
The 2016 growing season was long, warm, and dry. Great conditions to get Cabernet Sauvignon ripe. The grapes for this Cab come from the Blind Creek Vineyard in the Similkameen and a block from the Nk'Mip Vineyards. It was then pressed into French Oak Barrels (25% new) for 18 months.
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is a beautiful deep red with hints of purple. It opens with aromas of black current, black cherries, and blueberry with hints of cedar, mint, and anise. The flavours continue to the palate where they are framed with silky tannins.
