Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
The 2015 Consensus is generous and dense in colour. Intense aromas of cassis, black cherry and black berry leap out of the glass and immediately begin telling the story of the tremendous 2015 growing season. The primary dark fruits are so prominent, that you have to dig deep to find the notes of sage, vanilla and cigar box. The story of this wine continues on the palate, where these flavours explode into a crescendo of black-fruited splendor, storming out to all corners of your mouth, but held in check by a vibrant acidity and plenty of fine-grained, opulent tannins. The overall impression is of a serious wine that commands your attention and respect, one that is built to age for 7-10 years (or longer based on your preferences and individual assessment of the wine over the years), but that will also drink well early (from 2018). We are particularly gratified with the outcome of this single-vineyard wine, as it translates the story of the growing season and the tremendous terroir of the vineyard in every glass.

Vineyard Notes
The 2015 growing season was long, dry and extremely hot. Plagued by forest fires in August, we had weeks where the smoke blocked out the sun, cooling down the temperatures and slowing down photosynthesis. Overall, the momentum of the warm season could not be denied and most varietals ripened 3-4 weeks ahead of normal with outstanding quality. The grapes for the 2015 Consensus came exclusively from the now legendary Blind Creek vineyard in the Similkameen Valley. During harvest the grapes were sampled bi-weekly to measure flavour development and phenolic ripeness. Each variety and parcel of fruit was picked at its optimal point of flavour development for the intended big, rich, style of wine that we were targeting.
Production Notes
32.5% Merlot, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Cabernet Franc, 18.5% Petit Verdot, 1% Malbec
Winemaker Notes
During vintage, the grapes for the 2015 Consensus were all carefully sorted, destemmed into small (1000L) open top vessels for fermentation. That caps were punched down by hand 3-4 times daily for about 10-12 days and the wine was then pressed off to commence the 22 month maturation process in 100% French Oak barriques of the highest quality. The final blend was assembled, clarified, and bottled in September, 2017.
Food Pairing Notes
Pair with lamb, aged beef, and rich, complex stews.
