Honest John's White 2017
The 2017 Honest John’s White is pale straw in color and has an intense and complex nose filled with aromas of green apple, pears, and lime. These flavours continue strongly onto the palate where they are joined by some additional notes of apricot, and orange blossoms. The palate is fresh and vibrant and has impressive length of flavour, impeccable balance, and a medium-bodied frame.
The 2017 growing season had higher than normal rainfall and rather cool temperatures in the spring. Then the weather turned and we ended up with one of the warmest, driest summers in 40 years. The smoke from forest fires throughout the province reflected a good deal of the sunlight away from our vines and kept the daytime temperatures very moderate, perfect for ripening. The net result was that we ended up with high flavour intensity, moderate sugars and fresh, crisp levels of acidity, which are the 3 attributes required for a great vintage. The grapes for the 2017 Honest John’s White primarily came from vineyards owned by Road 13, with well-established vines. During harvest the grapes were sampled bi-weekly to measure flavour development and sugar content.
Bottled December 15, 2017
During vintage, the grapes for the 2017 Honest John’s White were all whole-bunch pressed, gently, before 24 hours of cold settling. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks at cooler temperatures to keep the wine bright and fruit forward. The final blend was assembled in November 2017 and bottled a few weeks later in December.

Pretty close to excellent. Great wine, a favourite of ours.
