Seventy-Four K 2016
BRONZE - National Wine Awards of Canada

The 2016 74K is very dark and densely coloured with attractive purple tints. The aromatic profile is a symphony of black fruited splendor, including black cherry, cassis, back berry, and blueberry pie complexed by notes of chocolate, vanilla, violets and baking spices. On the palate, the wine is plush and sumptuous, with fruit-driven intensity woven through a matrix of abundant tannins in a medium to full bodied frame. The overall impression is of a serious wine that is carefully crafted to drink well now, but also handsomely reward cellaring. Pair it with rich protein dishes and your plans to take over the world.
GOLD - Pacific Rim International Wine Competition, 2018... DOUBLE GOLD - All Canadian Wine Championships, 2018... BRONZE - National Wine Awards of Canada, 2018
The 2016 growing season was long, dry and warm, with most vineyards maturing their fruit very early and with perfect ripeness. During harvest the grapes were sampled bi-weekly to measure flavour and tannin development. Each variety and parcel of fruit was picked at its optimal point of flavour development for the 74K style. During harvest the grapes were sampled bi-weekly to measure flavour development and phenolic ripeness.
64% Merlot , 16% Syrah, 10% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec, 3% Viognier, 2% Gamay Noir
During vintage, the grapes for the 2016 74K were all carefully sorted, destemmed, and gently pumped to tanks for fermentation. That caps were pumped over twice daily for about 8-10 days and the wine was then pressed off to commence the maturation process. The final blend was assembled, clarified, and bottled in August 2017.

Love this wine. One of our favourite reds. Always like to have some on hand. Just got another case and cracked a bottle right away - easy drinking and smooth.

I love this wine. It's easy drinking, but has enough complexity that you can pair it with food. I know that I can grab this wine anytime and enjoy it.

74K is our house wine, always easy drinking but with enough body and complexity to pair with food. And, I love that the new pub in my neighbourhood has it on tap!

Just opened a 2014 74K, brings me back to the day of Rock Pile. The few years in the bottle have been good to it, beautiful garnet color, black plums on the nose. This is a heavy wine with I will say sturctured tannins, long finish. Black berries, currants, chokecherries on the palate.
