2019 Chip Off the Old Block Chenin Blanc

TASTING NOTES
The 2018 Chip Off the Old Block is intended to be a lighter, fresher version of our Old Vines Chenin. The colour is pale straw to light gold and has a tropical nose made up of guava and papaya. These aromas carry nicely onto the medium-bodied palate where they are joined by beautiful notes of white flowers and lemon peel. Pairs well with sushi, oysters, and salty air so find yourself a boat and get on board.
FIELD REPORT
These Chenin grapes grow in our vineyards planted in the heart of the Golden Mile Bench and are some of the oldest grapes in Canada. Although the 2018 growing season got off to a good start, in mid-July smoke from forest fires in the Pacific Northwest blocked a lot of sunlight which slowed down ripening dramatically. The result is a lower alcohol level and increased acidity levels in the wine.
