Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
The 2014 Marsanne has a light pale golden hue. The nose is fresh with delivious notes of melon, guava, and honey. This is the lightest of the white Rhone varietals and the wine has a delicate, soft, and feminine palate that delivers flavours of cantaloupe, pear, and wild honey. It is filled with personality and is begging for good food enjoyed on a sunny day.
Vineyard Notes
The 2014 Marsanne was grown in the Blind Creek Vineyard in Cawston. This excellent site provides great soil and amazing warmth for the developing grapes. The crop was kept low and well exposed to the sun, wtith a green harvest taking place prior to the true harvest. Marsanne flavour develpment can be slow, so patience is important. Excellent site selection and great weather conditions in 2014 meant the Marsanne harvest was relatively early, at the end of September.

Winemaker Notes
At harvest the grapes were optimally rip and tasted of ripe pears and melon. These were pressed, very gently, in whole clusters in our bladder press and the juice was cold settled for 24 hours before being racked. The juice was transferred to old neutral barrels for fermentation. Only the free run juice was used for this wine, which was fermented at higher temperatures with D-47 yeast to help build weight and mouthfeel. The wine was aged for 5 months in the barrels prior to bottling
