Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
The 2013 VRM has a gorgeous golden hue from the super ripe grapes. The nose is vibrant and complex with aromas of white peach, vanilla, orange peel, and baked pear. The palate is rich, round, and fresh yet balanced with incredibly seamless texture. It showcases attractive flavours of apricot, Nashi pear, vanilla pod and old world minerality. This is a truly world class wine with a phenomenal long finish.
Vineyard Notes
It is definitely all about the dirt. The grapes for this wine were grown in a great vineyard with good soil, lots of heat and sunshine and good vineyard management.
Production Notes
145 cases produced.
Winemaker Notes
We picked the grapes when they were perfectly ripe and gently pressed them, whole cluster, in our bladder press or basket press (depending on the size of the lot harvested). The juice was cold settled for 2 days before being racked to old neutral barrels and inoculated with D-47 yeast. This particular yeast builds mouthfeel in a wine. All the barrels were fermented warm to further contribute to mouthfeel. We stirred the lees on a weekly basis for three months to create additional complexity and fullness. The wine was aged for about 9 months in neutral oak prior to bottling in the summer of 2014.
